Goodwin Living At Home FAQs
From eligibility to coverage, our FAQs break down the most common questions we hear from prospective members.
Is Goodwin Living At Home the same as in-home care?
No. Goodwin Living At Home (GLAH) is not a home care provider. We are a Continuing Care at Home (CCaH) program. CCaH programs enable older adults to remain in the comfort of their own home. GLAH offers two distinct plans, Foundation and Breezeway, both designed to help you navigate the changes that come with aging by connecting you with a dedicated team of experts who arrange and oversee in-home care whenever you need it.
What does GLAH do?
We empower older adults to live securely and safely in their own homes as they age. We offer a range of benefits, and one of our key benefits is care coordination. Our experienced team works closely with members and their families to coordinate the right services for members as they age in place.
Is GLAH a form of long-term care insurance?
Our Foundation plan is similar to long-term care insurance in that it provides coverage for a portion of the costs of in-home care that are not covered by Medicare or other types of health or long-term care insurance. Our Breezeway plan does not include coverage for the costs of care.
I’m beyond the age of purchasing long-term care insurance coverage. Can I still apply to GLAH?
Absolutely! We welcome anyone age 55 and older to apply. For our Foundation Plan, there is an age cap of 75 at the time of application, provided you meet the medical criteria during the application process. With our Breezeway Plan, you can be in your 60s, 70s, 80s, or even 90s and still join GLAH.
What is the primary difference between your plans?
Both plans provide you with access to our full range of care coordination services, resources and member benefits. In addition, our Foundation Plan covers a portion of your in-home care costs that are not covered by Medicare or other types of health or long-term care insurance. This plan includes a daily limit for coverage. Our Breezeway Plan does not cover the cost of care.
Do both plans include wellness and lifestyle benefits?
Yes. All GLAH members have access to comprehensive member benefits such as annual health assessments, quarterly check-ins, medical transportation coordination, a personal emergency response system, wellness and lifestyle classes, etc.
If I move out of my home, will my GLAH benefits follow me?
It depends on which plan you select. If you are enrolled in the Foundation Plan, your Goodwin Living At Home benefits move with you, whether you relocate to another home, a retirement community, or another care setting. Breezeway Plan benefits, however, are tied to your current home and focus on care coordination rather than covering care costs.
I am a solo ager with no family in the area, and I’m about to have a major medical procedure. Can I join GLAH quickly?
Absolutely. We can welcome members who are planning for these types of situations and will process your application as quickly as possible. Once you are a GLAH member, you’ll have a dedicated care coordination team who will work closely with you before, during and after your procedure. We can help arrange transportation, coordinate in-home care, manage follow-up services and connect you with our trusted vetted resources for recovery and ongoing support.
